As you can see from the comparison table, the original image file with drop shadow and reflection is three times the size of the final version which will be used on the webpage.

By reducing the image width to 480 px I can get two columns on my standard page width of 980 px.

Even if I only have six images on the page I have reduced the total file size by over 500 KB.
